JOANNE MORGAN - ARAD / AISTD / RAD RTSPrincipal

Jo started dancing at the age of 3. She started her professional career at the age of 7, performing at the Hull New Theatre in the christmas pantomime, and carried on the same way performing in professional pantos and ballets upto the age of 16.

At the age of 11 she successfully auditioned for a York Ballet Scholar. She attended these classes in York every weekend for 2 years. At the age of 13 she she was one of only 15 people from around the country invited to be involved in a special class at the Royal Accademy of Dancing. This dedication took her to London every Saturday for 3 years.

At the age of 16 she was awarded a scholarship at the prestigeous Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts. It was here she gained her teaching qualifications with the ISTD. She was also awarded the letters ARAD when she was one of the few people around the country who passed the Royal Academy of Dance Advanced Exam.

Since leaving college her professional dance career has taken her on a UK tour, a World tour where she had the experience of Dancing in Las Vegas, a Disney Cruise Ship where she cruised the Bahamas, a European cruise, and several one night shows.

Jo cut short her performing career when her Mother was taken ill, and has been teaching for the Wendy Foster School of Dancing for 7 years. She has tutored pupils from the age of 3 – 18 in Ballet, Modern, Tap and Street Dance. She choreographs group and solo work for dance festivals and she writes the script and choreographs the dances for Act 3 in the schools annual show.

Jo’s teaching and choreographic skills have taken her to the south of England where she has worked during the school holidays on dance, drama and singing workshops for children.

Jo has recently passed a Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) with the RAD which is the start of what she hopes to be her qualification to be an examiner.
